Or even 1 hour at a time.  The bigger picture is still crucial, but it needs to be balanced with making  every moment count towards it.

2. Set achievable targets......

In small manageable chunks, a long list of things can sometimes seem overwhelming.  Achieving even small tasks is motivating and will eliminate that 'chasing your tail' feeling.

3. Plan the night before....

Knowing that everything is under control will not only help you to sleep better, it will ensure you start the next day immediately ready to go.

4. Be ruthless with prioritisation....

Decide the importance of each task by looking at urgency v value.  Focus on those with deadlines first.

5. Learn to say NO, politely....

There is absolutely no reason to feel guilty for valuing your time.  Over-commitment is counter-productive.

6. Make every minute count....

Use travel-time to learn or catch up, don't watch TV, don't spend time on idle chit-chat, verbally or on email.

7. Don’t procrastinate....

Cultivate a habit of doing it now.

8. Use the 2 minute rule.....

If unexpected work drops on your desk and it takes 2 mins do it, if not, then onto point 9..

9. Use & learn the the 4 D’s...

Do it, Defer it, Delete, Dump it.

10. Don’t let email be your master....

Let it be your servant – twice a day or once an hour if you must.
